Characters
There are 6 main steps a player and referee must take to create a character:
Pick a species
The species available will largely be dependant on what setting the game is
played in. A fantasy game could have Orcs and
Elves, while a horror game could have Vampires
and Werewolves. It will typically be up to the
referee to dictate what is available and up to the player to choose what species
they want their character to be.
Generate Character Attributes
Using the point system, the player will decide on their character's attributes.
Decide Starting Skill
While technically each person starts off with 1 skill, for gaming purposes it is
usually standard to start characters off with 10 to 30 skill. This way,
they have a better chance of surviving their initial fights. The amount of
skill a character starts with is completely up to the referee
Pick Occupations
For each stage (10 skill), the character gets to pick an occupation. If the
referee allows, groups can pick their occupations so that they complement each
other.
Roll Bonuses and Stamina
For each occupation, bonuses and stamina must be rolled. These are both listed in
the occupation descriptions. Stage stamina is listed as the number of dice used
to determine the increase in stamina. Bonuses, when a roll is required, will be
listed as each value in a range with the corresponding roll on a D6.
Get Some Gear
Once you have a character you need to get him some gear. Either the referee
will dictate what you get, or will give you a sum of money to buy your gear.
One limitation to how much gear you can get is your size and strength. If
your character is small and weak, they will not be able to have too many weapons
at their disposal. A character's carrying capacity is 1/2 of their total
force, so a person able to exert 1000 N of force will be able to use 500 N for
carrying gear. This translates into 50 kg of gear.
If a character chooses to carry more than their carrying capacity (up to their
total force), their speed and agility will be halved (round up).
